Shipping Policy

How we ship custom tin box orders across the USA and internationally — lead times, freight options, and delivery responsibilities.

Last updated: July 7, 2026

1. Overview

Tin Packaging ships custom and wholesale tin box orders worldwide from our manufacturing facilities. This Shipping Policy explains production lead times, freight methods, delivery terms, and your responsibilities as a B2B buyer. Shipping arrangements are confirmed on your sales order or proforma invoice.

Because every tin project is made to order, shipping timelines depend on production completion, order size, destination, and the freight method selected. Promotional offers such as free USA shipping apply only when explicitly stated on your confirmed quote.

2. Production Lead Times

Shipping cannot begin until production and quality checks are complete. Estimated production lead times (after deposit and artwork approval) are:

  • Standard custom printed tins: 25–35 business days
  • New mold or custom-shape development: 35–50 business days (includes tooling)
  • Repeat orders (existing mold, no changes): 20–30 business days
  • Rush orders: Available on request; subject to factory capacity and surcharge

Lead times exclude holidays, force majeure events, and delays caused by artwork revisions or payment holds. We provide estimated ship dates in your order confirmation and notify you of material changes.

3. Shipping Destinations

United States

We regularly ship to all 50 U.S. states. Deliveries are made to commercial addresses, warehouses, fulfillment centers, or residential addresses when accessible by standard freight carriers. Deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories may require additional transit time and cost.

International

We export to Canada, the United Kingdom, European Union countries, Australia, the Middle East, and other regions. International buyers are responsible for import compliance unless otherwise agreed. Restricted destinations or sanctioned territories cannot be served.

4. Freight Methods

We arrange shipping based on order volume, budget, and urgency. Common options include:

  • Express courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS): Best for samples, small quantities, and urgent replenishment. Door-to-door with tracking. Typically 3–7 business days internationally after dispatch.
  • Air freight: Suitable for medium volumes requiring faster delivery than ocean. Cargo arrives at destination airport; customs clearance and final delivery may require your broker or our appointed agent.
  • Ocean freight (FCL/LCL): Most economical for full container and large wholesale orders. Transit typically 25–45 days depending on port pair. Ideal for palletized cartons of tins.
  • Land freight: Used for select regional routes where applicable.

Your sales representative will recommend the most cost-effective method based on carton dimensions, gross weight, and your delivery deadline.

5. Incoterms and Delivery Terms

Delivery responsibilities are defined by the Incoterm on your invoice. Common terms for B2B tin orders include:

  • EXW (Ex Works): You arrange pickup and all freight from our facility. Lowest product price; buyer bears full transit risk and cost.
  • FOB (Free on Board): We deliver goods to the port of shipment and clear export customs. Risk transfers when goods are loaded on vessel. Buyer arranges ocean/air freight and import.
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight): We arrange freight and insurance to the named destination port. Risk transfers at destination port; import clearance remains buyer's responsibility.
  • DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): We deliver to your door with duties and taxes prepaid where arranged. Available for select USA and international destinations; quoted separately.
  • DAP (Delivered at Place): We deliver to your address; you handle import duties and taxes.

If no Incoterm is specified, FOB origin port is the default for international orders unless otherwise stated in writing.

6. Shipping Costs

Freight charges are calculated based on chargeable weight (actual or volumetric), destination, service level, fuel surcharges, and peak-season adjustments. Quotes may show:

  • Freight included in unit price (common for USA promotions on qualifying orders)
  • Freight listed as a separate line item on your invoice
  • Freight collected at delivery (collect accounts with your carrier)

Shipping costs are firm only after goods are packed and weighed. Significant variances from quoted estimates will be communicated before dispatch.

7. Packaging and Palletization

Tins are packed in export-grade cartons with inner dividers, bubble wrap, or foam as needed to prevent denting and scratching in transit. Cartons are labeled with your PO number, SKU, quantity, and handling symbols (fragile, this side up).

Large orders are palletized and shrink-wrapped for forklift handling. Pallet dimensions and gross weight are provided for your warehouse planning. Special labeling, barcodes, or retail-ready packaging can be arranged when specified at order placement.

8. Shipment Scheduling and Payment Hold

Goods ship after the balance payment clears (unless you have approved credit terms). We will hold completed orders in our warehouse for up to 14 days at no charge. Extended storage may incur warehouse fees.

You must provide accurate shipping instructions—including company name, contact person, phone number, and delivery hours—before the cargo ready date. Incorrect addresses may result in redelivery fees charged to you.

9. Tracking and Documentation

Upon dispatch, we provide:

  • Bill of lading (B/L) or airway bill number
  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Tracking link (courier and select freight forwarders)
  • Certificate of origin or other documents when ordered

Tracking availability depends on the carrier. Ocean freight may show limited updates until arrival at destination port. Contact us if you need a copy of export documents for customs brokerage.

10. Customs, Duties, and Import Taxes

International buyers are generally responsible for import duties, VAT/GST, customs brokerage, and any inspection fees unless DDP terms were purchased. HS codes and declared values on commercial invoices reflect the tin packaging category; final classification is determined by customs authorities in your country.

Delays at customs are outside our control. Providing accurate importer of record details and tax IDs helps avoid clearance holds. We can recommend freight forwarders experienced in packaging imports upon request.

11. Delivery Inspection

Inspect cartons upon delivery. Note visible damage on the carrier's delivery receipt before signing. For concealed damage or shortages, photograph packaging and contents and notify us within 48 hours of delivery (see our Return Policy).

Allow adequate receiving capacity for pallet deliveries. Liftgate service, inside delivery, and appointment scheduling should be requested in advance; additional carrier fees may apply.

12. Partial Shipments and Split Lots

Large orders may ship in multiple lots if agreed in advance— for example, when production lines complete sequentially or when you request phased delivery to multiple warehouses. Each shipment is invoiced according to your payment terms. Split shipments may incur additional freight charges.

13. Shipping Delays and Force Majeure

We are not liable for carrier delays, port congestion, weather events, customs holds, labor strikes, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We will assist with documentation and carrier claims where applicable but cannot guarantee transit times quoted by third-party logistics providers.

14. Lost or Damaged Shipments

Carrier liability is limited by the terms of the selected freight service. We will help file claims with the carrier when damage occurs in transit and is documented at receipt. Claims must be initiated promptly; delays may void carrier compensation.

Manufacturing defects discovered after delivery are handled under our Return Policy, not as shipping claims.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Shipping Policy to reflect changes in carriers, trade regulations, or service offerings. The "Last updated" date indicates the current version. Confirmed orders follow the terms agreed at order placement.
